It was a busy week for the Eureka Springs High School EAST students who welcomed a team of Japanese teachers and students from the Wakayama Prefecture Kainan High School last November 11-15, 2007.
Carroll County Technology Center Receives Wal-Mart Foundation Grant

The Carroll County Community Technology Center received a $1,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation, for the purchase of equipment and software. The EAST Lab, who applied for the grant, is coordinating efforts with various members of the community for the Technology Center.
Conway High EAST facilitator Richard Washam named Audubon Arkansas Educator

Audubon Arkansas recognized Conway EAST teacher Richard Washam for “his ability to motivate, mentor, and celebrate students in environmental and technology projects.” He enables students to experience nature and to be part of positive solutions that benefit communities. Richard was named Audubon Arkansas Educator 2007.

EAST Announces 2007-2008 Board of Directors

The EAST Initiative, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit that oversees the nationally recognized EAST Program elected its 2007-2008 Board of Directors at its annual board meeting on August 7.
EAST Students Featured at 2007 ESRI Conference

Students from EAST programs in Hawaii and Arkansas presented the GIS aspects of their service projects to an audience of 13,000 at the 2007 ESRI International User Conference in June.

The Eureka Springs High School EAST Lab, as part of their proposed plan to establish an Inventors Club for Carroll County youth interested in math and science careers, received a $1,000 grant from the Carroll County Community Foundation, Youth Advisory Council.
Eureka Springs EAST receives MIT and Rotary Club Grants for Inventors Club

The Eureka Springs High School EAST Lab, as part of their proposed plan to establish an Inventors Club for Carroll County youth interested in math and science careers, received a $2,000 FollowOn grant from the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Program and a corresponding matching grant of $2,000 from the Eureka Springs Rotary Club.
